one word. piazza michelangelo. i don’t care what issues you might think you have with climbing 500+ steps. you HAVE to go there. no joke. most amazing spot in florence. hands down. perfect for a romantic date. perfect for an unromantic date. perfect. just perfect. if you want breathtaking views, i will give you them. imagine the spectacularly lit duomo, palazzo vecchio, and santa croce emerging from a sea of hundreds and hundreds of red roofs like beacons in the florentine night. add a dance floor, some music, and some waltzers and you have the piazza michelangelo. incredible!!
we started italian class today. my roommates have the morning 9-12 class, and my class is from 1-4, but there is a good group of poly kids in my session, so i’m definitely not alone, and I met some cool people from other schools, too. our teacher annalisa is adorable—she barely speaks a word of english but enough to answer our questions decently. i think our whole class was surprised by the amount of italian we already knew (and also by the amount of italian we didn’t already know). i cannot wait to finally be able to converse with the italians!
move-in day is approaching! the five of us are so excited to finally have a place to unpack our exploding suitcases. and do laundry. and have ice in our water. (for some reason italians don’t mind living without ice you have to ask for dell’acqua con giaoco if you want ice water!). i have my own room up these stairs off the kitchen with a slanted ceiling and a little mini window and slanted closet doors. it is adorable! and hot! thank god for fans, right? it’s ok. i’ll be thrilled to have that heat in the winter, i’m sure.
that’s all for now. i’ll keep you posted if anything exciting happens!
ciao sensuale! ;)
p.s. i have yet to post pictures, i know, i know. the internet is crazy expensive right now (in the hotel), but when i move in, i will have unlimited access to the internet so i will upload as soon as i can!
